Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

You are here

At Carolina Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center, our fellowship-trained physiatrist is a recognized expert in the diagnosis and nonsurgical treatment of acute and chronic conditions and injuries.

Physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) is a medical specialty that involves the nonsurgical treatment of injuries and disorders and the pain that accompanies them. Physiatrists, or physical medicine and rehabilitation doctors, are specialty-trained to employ conservative methods to alleviate pain in the neck and spine as well as many other types of pain.

The physiatric approach to patient care looks at the whole person and not just one symptom or condition.

Why Choose Carolina Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center?

At the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Center at Carolina Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center, our PM&R specialist is an expert in this nonsurgical field of medicine. Because of his extensive education and training, Dr. Tejas Parikh is able to offer conservative alternatives for several injuries and conditions that typically require invasive treatment methods.

Common treatment plans may include a combination of topical medications, injections, non-opioid medications, and therapeutic modalities, along with exercise, physical therapy, and psychological interventions (when appropriate). Dr. Parikh is a physiatrist who works with you to treat your condition individually to your specific needs, which helps you return to the activities you love to do.
