Astym® Treatment

Astym® is a physical therapy approach that addresses problems, such as scarring, fibrosis, and degeneration, that occur in soft tissues. These problems often develop as the result of trauma, surgery, or overuse. Effective for both new injuries and chronic, nagging conditions, Astym® treatment stimulates the body to regenerate soft tissue, decrease pain, and improve movement. Astym® is scientifically proven to change the underlying cause of soft tissue problems and is without comparison in its ability to resolve scar tissue problems and other soft-tissue dysfunctions.

Astym® is a set of treatments of nine to ten therapy visits lasting approximately four to five weeks. During Astym® therapy, we encourage you to stay active and continue to participate in your daily activities.

The steps involved in Astym® include:

• Your therapist will complete an evaluation to determine if you are a candidate for Astym® treatment.
• Our staff will assign a specific program of stretches and exercises to make sure your body responds properly and you can continue with your daily activities without pain.
• Pain will decrease, and movement will become easier over time.
• Remaining active throughout your treatment will help you experience more successful results.
