Patient Reviews: Dr. Erik C. Johnson
"Other than breaking my elbow, my entire experience at Carolina Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine has been very pleasant. The staff is friendly and professional. The doctor was friendly and made me feel at ease. He explained everything to me so that I knew what to expect as to my surgery and recovery. I think this was the first experience at a doctors office to which I did not dread going." – Lynne B.
"Dr. Johnson was great. He met with me and covered my options for dealing with my knee pain. We elected surgery. He did a great job getting my surgery scheduled and performed to fit my schedule. The follow-ups went well and I feel great about the recovery to-date." – Ken T.
"Very professional, fixed my shoulder the first time, Thanks." – Stephen S.
"I enjoy coming here to this office, the staff is all friendly and helpful, the doctors are all good at what they do, and the office is clean and organized. They have one person at the front door to help with where to go because the office has four waiting areas now. In the old building there was only one waiting area for all the doctors. They also have the PT department in the same building now too. I tell all my friends and people I talk to about this office and how good they are. The doctors takes time and tell you all about what is going on and what needs to be done. I had right shoulder surgery and I am doing good. I had to have PT too and the PT department is good at what they do too. My mother has had both shoulder surgeries done here and my father has had one shoulder surgery done here too. We like the doctors because they are good." – Samantha H.
"Excellent experience from check-in to X-ray tech to nurse to doctor to check-out – superior cross customer service & caring. Great staff!" – Rebecca L.
"Dr. Johnson is more than just a doctor. He takes the time to get to know his patients and always goes the extra mile to make sure that an athlete's long-term health is first priority. He is never in a hurry and takes time to stress the importance of proper exercising and stretching. Dr. Johnson has helped me with my arm-care program since I was 10 years old and I definitely recommend him to anyone, whether they are an athlete or not." – Garrett S.
"I feel Dr. Erik Johnson is probably the best doctor that has ever treated me. I have suffered a few years with my shoulder being told that all I had was arthritis. Dr. JOHNSON OPERATED AND I CAN LAY IN A BED AND SLEEP AGAIN. He never prejudiced me like some doctors like all I wanted was something for pain. Of which I have no need now, that my pain is almost totally gone. I believe in another month or so and I'll be totally pain-free. Thanks for repairing my shoulder. You and your staff are the BEST EVER." – Robert R.
"I'm a patient of Dr. Erik Johnson at Carolina Orthopaedic. He's treated me for my left shoulder injury that happened when I fell down a flight of stairs and the stairs won! He performed my surgery and has been THE best Orthopaedic specialist I have ever been to. He's very thorough, is always cordial and friendly as well as understanding of my situation whether it was a money issue when I was unemployed or a time constraint involving raising a family. I've recommended him to 2 others who have had Dr. Johnson perform their shoulder surgeries as well, both of which were very happy with him as I am. Dr. Erik Johnson is THE VERY BEST in his field and the staff at Carolina Orthopaedic are superb!!" – Jennifer C.
"I messed up my shoulder and needed a reverse replacement done. Dr. Johnson and his PA both did all they could to help with my pain. Dr. Johnson gave me my options and let me decide which way I wanted to go. I was totally pleased with the care I was given by everyone at Carolina Orthopaedic and at the hospital. The surgery was done so well , that I even had a shorter recovery time than I expected. I would refer Carolina Orthopaedic and Dr. Johnson, to anyone who needs a good orthopaedic." – Richard D.

First he is an excellent doctor who is very very exceptional at his trade second he is a super nice friendly guy who anyone can have a conversation with. I had an injury and was very nervous about the serious surgery that I had to have. Dr. Johnson not only put my mind at ease he fixed me and I haven't had any problems at all. "I am new to the area and I was referred to Carolina Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center. It was a pleasure meeting the staff and Dr. Johnson. I have a problem with my left knee and after speaking with the doctor I decided to follow the three weeks of shots. I never had to wait long on any of my visits. I was taken care of promptly and efficiently and left the office feeling better that I walked in. The series of shots are working and hoping I can follow this treatment instead of having a knee replacement. I would recommend Dr. Johnson in a heartbeat." – Mary C.
"My son hurt his thumb wrestling with his siblings. The office was able to get us in the same day! Dr. Johnson was wonderful. We got an X-ray and had a splint to wear until it healed. Great experience!" – Amber B.

"As a life-long soccer player, now in my 40s, I looked for a physician that was as interested as I was in helping me get back to the beautiful game. My friends and family spoke quite highly of Dr. Erik Johnson. After consulting with him, I knew he was the right choice for me and so, together, we started our repair journey. Tomorrow will be my 16th week post-surgery and I'm recovering really well. I'm able to jog and I'm on track to return to play in a couple more months. Dr. Johnson's consultation, surgery, and post-op evaluations have exceeded my expectation. He is knowledgeable, polite, and friendly. More importantly, he shares and has supported my goal of returning me to soccer-playing form in the safest and strongest way possible!" – Jason S.
"My story is not a sports injury, but rather a worn out knee. I had gone through the regular treatment procedures of hydrocortisone shots in the knee joint, which gave me temporary relief for a while - at first for a few months. Later, as the cushioning tissue in my knee gradually went away, those treatments didn't work as well. I tried the "rooster comb" shots, and they worked briefly, but by then, I was bone on bone. The very best part of my story is the anesthesia - the femoral nerve block in my leg for the surgery. I was not in terrible pain afterwards because it lasted for about 22 hours, and I was on the front side of the pain and could manage it going forward. I did the exercises that the home health care nurse told me to do, I did the physical therapy when I went in and at home, and I went back to work in about five weeks. I'm pain free now. I would encourage anyone considering a knee replacement to have it done instead of suffering on and on." - Debbie Y.
"Dr. Johnson repaired 2 meniscus tears and a rotator cuff tear for me in a 2 year period. Dr. Johnson and his staff were great. He always explained the surgical procedures and answered my questions, so I would know exactly what he was going to do and what my recovery time would be. Thanks to him, I'm playing golf with me buddies again." - William W.
